A New Pastor...

DSC04509 (Small) You might say that I was a bit of jelaous with people who claimed themself as Batak. Well, even though sometimes I had a bumpy joke about them, especially about their strong character and an exceptional behavior, I must admit that many of them have strong points, which are modern, smart, tough, independent, strong will, straight ahead, and determined. Most of those points don't exist among Javanese, not to mention myself. I don't want to play racist, but the point is they are great people.

I got two Batak friends who amazed me and whose both names are Binsar. One is 27 years old, a post graduate of semantic theology from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, who is now still doing his doctoral study also in theology in the same university. I got to know him when we were together having a Dutch course in the Netherlands Embassy. He was prominent with his dutch, even though we were just doing the first grade. I never got the idea that he was already a master of theology from Vrije Universiteit. He just behaved like the rest of us who know only two-three dutch words. Lately from his blog I discovered that he had been through a struggling journey to be what he is now. He had been struggling hard enough to get what he wants and amazingly he admitted God had a big role in his life. He is pretty remarkable.

The other remarkable one is Pak Binsar. I don't dare just to mention his first name because right now in this moment, he becomes a PASTOR!!! Hartelijk gefeliciteerd voor pak Binsar en bu Aad. What a tremendous progress!! I believe this is God calling to them to shepherd His believers. As I wrote in my previous blog, pak Binsar was an associate pastor in GBI Menteng Raya Jakarta. Now becasue the senior pastor has resigned, then pak Binsar is inaugurated into a senior pastor. This is what we have been thinking of the most suitable role in church for him since we got to know him. Well, we wish that pak Binsar would really enjoy becoming a pastor and we also pray that God will broaden his capacity and put more amazingness in his ministry. This person has amazed me deeply. His spirit of struggle, his conduct, his spiritual thought, his desire to reach what he dreamed, and his heart for other people are pretty remarkable. He is also a flourishing husband and a loving father.

Recently we just had a dinner before we left for Netherlands. That was after almost one year we haven't had seeing each other. Off course, we were talking about how's life going on, what progress we have made, and also about future. Well, that was gezellig!! I don't know how to translate that in english, but that is the most proper word to describe. That was also the first time for Joshua to meet them, well probably Joshua wasn't aware of them yet. Anyway we were very satisfied knowing that everything was great, we all are blessed, and the most important thing is we all have a bright future. As it is written in my wedding picture: Our future is as bright as the promises of God. Let the name of God be praised!!
