The Maestro
I don't know what to say about this, because it seemed that God has ordained everything to make this run smoothly. At least I had to admit this wasn't in my plan. Long before we set up a company, I had a couple of meetings with another architect to discuss about the drawing of the hospital and the orphanage. Well, I still could remember what kind of look the architect gave me when I explained him about this project. He was thinking that I was kidding, totally wasn't serious, having a stupid dream in the mid of the day!! Building a hospital in Wamena? Who's gonna think about that, at least among normal people? He just discovered that this project was almost impossible, but he didn't dare to say that we were a crazy couple. The idea itself was crazy, if you don't want to say it as ridiculous. The initial drawing that I made sounded very ambititious, a very big building on a limited land. We want to have a hospital and also an orphanage next to each other. The building would cost million dollars. Based on an economic principle, it was not a smart (or dumb?) to spend million dollars for thing that wasn't potential to return the investment. Imagine there's someone who is suddenly crazy enough doing a thing that common people would think ten times before, that's exactly he was having bussines with.
Well, I don't want to blame his doubt on us. It is indeed doubtable. But if we look back to the very reason why we were brave enough to start it, then our doubt will turn into a faith. A faith that would not go in vain. So we set the price for the drawing and we agreed to hire him. To be precise, we almost hired him. The problem at that time was we still haven't set up a company yet, and worse, our friend suddenly declined to join us (as I wrote before). Our pastor strongly advised us to build first a company before starting the project, so we could do everything in behalf of the company. By those reasons, for awhile the work of drawing must be held.
The next progress was amazing, if I am allowed to say, it was too unlikely to happen. Suddenly we had a great partnership with the family Kaisiepo, who is totally not in doubt had proven their commitment to God. They were so bold in believing that this project came from God, and God would do anything to make it happen. God would make the impassable into the passable. All we need is a heart to believe and a wilingness to work and walk according to His guidance. So after the company was set up, the work of drawing could be carried on again. It was a counsel from Mrs.Kaisiepo to hire an architect who also has a heart for God. He would be not merely doing the drawing for money, instead he sacrified his skill for the work of God. It is Mr.Vico Pawane, who is currently helping us with the drawing. He is doing the drawing with the passion, and he is also giving a contribution of faith to this project. He is very patient to serve us during the process of consultation and an agreement of the drawing. He is also taking care very well of my desire to have a Dutch style building.
Well, we are very proud to work together with Mr.Vico and his work is indeed an enormous one!! We would like to thank to Mr.Vico for his contribution and in helping to realize this huge vision.
God bless you and your family.
